What Is Zion Ponderosa Youth Camp?
Zion Ponderosa Youth Camp is a camp for Type 1 diabetics who are between the ages of 11-18, and must be at least in the 5th grade to attend. The camp is held in Utah's Zion Ponderosa In May 2020 for children from the Washington County and small towns up to Beaver.
**This event for 2020 has been cancelled due to it being a large gathering. We are excited to restart this in 2021!!
Available Camp Activities
Some of the camp activities include Horseback riding, Paintball, Zip-lining, Rock Climbing wall, Miniature golf, Skeet shooting, ATV riding (16 and older), Swimming and Making Friends.
All Meals are provided by Zion Ponderosa and snacks are provided by WCDYA. There are also gluten free options upon request.
We also have dietitians to help with carb counting, nurses and Physicians to help with any medical needs that may arise.
Somewhere within the 3 days of camp, there will be a planned activity full of games, and a little bit of diabetes education thrown in.
Cost
The cost of camp is $160.00, but if you helped sell snow cones at our annual Dixie Rodeo Fundraiser last year (mentioned in the next article) then your cost is $80.00. Friends are welcome to come to camp and their cost is $160.00. Based on the experiences the kids have had at camp each year, this is an amazing cost/benefit for the kids that attend camp.
If there are questions about cost or have difficultly coming up with this amount, contact Aimee at 435-557-0439.
